AI isn't the problem... it's the solution

Below is a real conversation:

Jay Miller Anyone have strategies to keep up with the AI everything approach... I find myself having too many AI things that I'm doing at one time and it's degrading the quality of my work (not just [Company] work but work on personal projects as well).

I'm not going to be good with the out of the box workflow things...

I like genuinely feel like I need a PM for my AI usage because there are too many things happening and too many things changing too quickly

Person A You are the PM now I guess.

I used to be an architect plus project manager plus team lead plus CTO with extremely high rate of context switches and I honestly think I became good at it. Maybe not great, but definitely good.

Surprisingly the thing that helped me was the ages old business book with sometimes ridiculous unscientific stories, but really useful at the core. (edited)

Person A Here is the book. [Getting things Done by David Allan]

Person A The cover alone makes me doubt my own advice though

Jay Miller I appreciate it @Person A. Definitely familiar (almost got certified to teach it once).

The problem that I'm running into is that AI grabs what it thinks is enough but like it still doesn't have all the context. My summary bot this week said I should do 3 things that I already did last week and it has the context to do it, it just doesn't spend the cycles to check it all. There's also so many things that are changing that someone could say something and it be obsolete in days but it was still said and AI has context of it being said.

Jay Miller Side note: I still run a podcast where we talk about the intersection between productivity feelings and mostly accountability.

Person B Personally, particularly the "not digging deep enough" is the biggest difference I see between Sonnet and Opus. Opus does the digging, and Sonnet gives up once the surface is done.

Person C @Person B And GPT models like Sol are even better at being thorough than Opus.

Jay Miller So the answer was what I expected - Throw more AI at the problem.

Jay Miller I'm going to stop posting because I don't want to be the downer in the company

As I mentioned... I'm an AI
